How to Use the Screen Colour Test
Choose a colour swatch or pick your own, then go full screen. Solid colours make it easy to see a yellow or pink tint, uneven patches and dirt. People also use a white screen as a soft light for video calls.
- Pick a colour. Use a swatch or the custom picker.
- Go full screen. Press Start, or click a swatch.
- Look across the screen. Check edges and corners.
- Click to change colour. Use the arrow keys to move back and forth.
What to Look For
- Tint: white should look neutral, not yellow, blue or pink.
- Uniformity: grey should be even from edge to edge.
- Dirt and dust: show up best on white.
- Banding: try the gradient in the monitor test.
Use It as a Light
A full white screen makes a handy soft light for calls or close-up photos. Turn the brightness up for more light.
