How to Use the Drag Click Test
The drag click test counts every click inside the box and divides by the time. The timer starts on your first click.
- Pick a time. Choose how long the test runs.
- Start clicking. Your first click starts the timer.
- Keep going. Click until the time runs out.
- Check your CPS. Your score and best score are shown.
Technique Tips
A grippy, textured button and a dry finger help. Not every mouse can drag click.
Typical Scores
| CPS | What it means |
|---|---|
| Under 6 | Relaxed clicking. Totally normal. |
| 6 to 8 | Average. Most people land here. |
| 8 to 11 | Fast. You are probably jitter clicking or just quick. |
| 11 to 15 | Very fast. Jitter or butterfly territory. |
| 15+ | Elite. Butterfly or drag clicking. |
Is This Safe for My Mouse?
Fast clicking won't break a healthy mouse, but it wears switches faster. If clicks start doubling, check with the double click test.
What Is a Good Drag Click Score?
| Clicks per drag | Level |
|---|---|
| Under 10 | Just starting |
| 10 to 25 | Getting the feel |
| 25 to 50 | Good, consistent drags |
| 50 to 80 | Very good |
| 80+ | Excellent, often on a mouse with a grippy button |
Your score depends on your mouse as much as your finger. A mouse with a glossy button or high debounce time may never pass 30, no matter how good your technique is. Compare scores on the same mouse to track real progress.
Tips for Better Drags
- Clean and dry your finger and the button first.
- Drag from the top of the button towards you at a slight angle.
- Use light, even pressure. Pressing hard stops the vibration.
- Try grip tape on the left button for extra friction.
- Do five drags and look at your average, not just your best.

Will Drag Clicking Damage My Mouse?
It wears the button surface and switch faster than normal clicking. Check the button now and then on the double click test, so you catch any chatter early.
