How to Use the Right Click Test
The right click test counts every click inside the box and divides by the time. The timer starts on your first click.
- Pick a time. Choose how long the test runs.
- Start clicking. Your first click starts the timer.
- Keep going. Click until the time runs out.
- Check your CPS. Your score and best score are shown.
Technique Tips
Right-click speed matters in some games and is a quick way to check the right switch.
Typical Scores
| CPS | What it means |
|---|---|
| Under 6 | Relaxed clicking. Totally normal. |
| 6 to 8 | Average. Most people land here. |
| 8 to 11 | Fast. You are probably jitter clicking or just quick. |
| 11 to 15 | Very fast. Jitter or butterfly territory. |
| 15+ | Elite. Butterfly or drag clicking. |
Is This Safe for My Mouse?
Fast clicking won't break a healthy mouse, but it wears switches faster. If clicks start doubling, check with the double click test.

Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Right CPS | Right clicks per second |
| Context menu | Browser menu on right click |
| Bridging | Placing blocks quickly while backing up |
| Chatter | One press counted twice |
Summary
Right-click fast inside the panel, read your CPS, and check that every press has a release. If the count jumps or the button feels stiff, test for chatter and clean it. With practice, most people close a good part of the gap between their left and right click speed.
Quick Tip
Tip: keep your middle finger relaxed and slightly arched. A flat, tense finger is slower and tires much faster. Practise both hands evenly. Come back and test again any time something feels different, because catching small changes early is always easier than fixing big ones later.
What This Right Click Test Checks
- Right click speed: clicks per second with the right button.
- Registration: whether every right click reaches the browser.
- Context menu: we block the browser menu inside the test area so it doesn't get in the way.
- Press and release: each press should have a matching release.
How to Run It
- Choose a timer.
- Right-click inside the test area to start.
- Click as fast as you can with your right button.
- Read your CPS and the click count when the timer ends.
How to Read the Result
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Right click detected, steady count | Working normally |
| No right click detected | Remapped, blocked or faulty button |
| Count jumps unexpectedly | Possible chatter: check with the double click test |
Why Right Click Speed Matters
Right click is used for building, aiming down sights and secondary actions. In Minecraft, fast right clicks help with block placing and bridging. Most people are slower with the right button than the left, so practising it separately helps.
Right Click Not Working?
Check that buttons aren't swapped in your system settings, that your mouse software hasn't remapped right click, and that the mouse works on another computer. Then test all buttons with the mouse button test.
Right Click CPS vs Left Click CPS
Most people click 10 to 20% slower with the right button. Your middle finger is usually less trained than your index finger, and many grips put less pressure on the right side. That's normal. If your right CPS is much lower than your left, practise with short tests here. If your right button feels stiff or mushy compared with the left, it may be worn.
| Right click CPS | Level |
|---|---|
| Under 5 | Relaxed |
| 5 to 7 | Average |
| 7 to 10 | Fast |
| 10+ | Very fast |
Right Click in Minecraft and Building Games
In Minecraft, right click places blocks and uses items. Faster right clicks help with bridging, speed building and some PvP techniques. Players often use butterfly or jitter clicking with the right button for this. Practise the technique on the butterfly click test or jitter click test, then come back here to test it on the right button.
Context Menu Handling
Normally, right clicking on a web page opens the browser's context menu. Inside the test area, we block that menu so you can click freely. Outside the area, right click works as normal. If the menu still appears inside the test area, an extension may be overriding the page. Try a private window.
Separating Right Click Problems From Double-Clicks
If your right click count jumps by two for a single press, your right switch may be chattering. Test it at slow speed on the double click test, which shows the gap between each release and the next press.
How to Read a Messy Sample
If your clicks were uneven, with long pauses and bursts, your CPS will look lower than your real speed. Try again with a steady rhythm. A clean sample gives you a result you can compare with future tests.
Right Click Test FAQ Extras
Why does the browser menu still appear? Only clicks outside the test area open it.
Can I test a trackpad right click? Yes, two-finger click counts as right click.
Is my right click slower than my left? Usually yes, by 10 to 20%.
Down and Up Consistency
Every press should have a matching release. We track both, so if a release goes missing (the button seems held after you let go), it shows up in the count. That can point to a sticky switch, which is worth checking with the hold test.
Choose a Duration
Use 5 seconds for a speed check and 10 seconds for a fairer result. Longer tests show stamina. Whatever you choose, use the same length each time so you can compare.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good score?
See the table above. 10+ CPS is fast for most techniques.
Does my mouse matter?
A light mouse with crisp switches helps, especially for drag clicking.
