How to Use the Gyroscope Test
Your phone uses a gyroscope to know how it is turned: for auto-rotate, games, maps and VR. This test reads orientation from the browser: alpha (compass direction), beta (tilt front to back) and gamma (tilt left to right). Smooth changes mean the sensor works. Frozen or jumping numbers mean it doesn't.
- Open on your phone. Tablets work too.
- Tap Start sensors. Allow access if asked.
- Tilt slowly. Watch the bubble and numbers.
- Turn around. Alpha should follow your direction.
What the Values Mean
| Value | Range | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha | 0–360° | Direction you face, like a compass |
| Beta | −180–180° | Tilt forward/back |
| Gamma | −90–90° | Tilt left/right |
